Cara Settipani, Ph.D.

Executive Clinical Director - Northeast

My Why

As a clinical psychologist, I’ve seen firsthand the powerful impact evidence-based treatments can have on adolescents with anxiety. Unfortunately, most youth struggling with anxiety do not have access to high-quality, evidence-based care. I believe that combining deep clinical expertise in this area with digital innovation will help many more youth in need. I’m grateful to be part of this mission-driven team that shares my commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of adolescents and their families.

Cara Settipani, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience working in a variety of healthcare settings across the United States and Canada, including academic medical centers, pediatric hospitals, and private practice. She was mentored by internationally recognized leaders in the field of child and adolescent anxiety, Dr. Anne Marie Albano and Dr. Philip Kendall. Her extensive research training informs her evidence-based treatment approach.

Cara graduated with Honors in Psychology from Northwestern University. She received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Temple University and completed her predoctoral internship in clinical child and adolescent psychology at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. She continued her specialization in anxiety and related disorders through a postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center, where she became an Instructor of Psychology within the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Following her time at Columbia, Cara worked in Toronto, Canada as a research fellow at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and as a psychologist at CBT Associates. She then co-founded a specialty practice for the treatment of anxiety and OCD in the San Francisco Bay Area. Prior to joining Lumate, Cara worked in the Division of Strategy and Innovation at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where she had the opportunity to apply her passion for evidence-based psychology to the design and evaluation of healthcare innovations to support behavior change.

Cara lives with her husband, two sons, and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She loves music, reading, nature, and sharing a good meal with family and friends. An ideal day for her is sunny and spent outdoors, hiking or relaxing at the beach.
